Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares To You music video has the exact shots in which we will be using and also the same setting. This is a close up of the singer singing and also a plain black background. This is where our idea to do a close up and a plain dark background came from this is because we want it to be in with the setting of the free running in which will be at sunrise/sunset and a bright background would be out of place in the video and also out of place with the lyrics of the song.

This is a David Guetta music video and is based upon the Parkour sport, and has the sport being performed similar to that going to be used in our music video. The video has different angles and settings in order to make the most of the moves. They have used several low angle shots in order to gain different points of view of the parkour artists, giving it a more realistic look and it puts the audience into the action. The lighting is natural throughout as the whole video is set outside, this is the plan for the parkour artists that will be used in our music video. This suggests that because natural lighting has been used it gives a more realistic effect that will be created by the lighting and movement within the frames. In the music video they have also used casual and loose costumes for both the parkour artists and dancers, which provides a relaxed realistic appearance as though it is something that is seen and done everyday. We hope to apply this to the music video as it will create a sense of realism in the movements that are being made.
CD and CD Advertisement Research
This James Morrison CD cover is an example of how we want our final CD cover to look this is because it is simplistic and uses city setting of street of cobbled pavements and just the artist in focus as the main character in the CD.
The cover is simple and uses a washed out sepia tone in the colouring of the image. This gives it a softer and more welcoming appeal to the audience. It has also been kept simple with only the artist name and album title being present on the cover. This ensures that the audience remains focused upon the artist and therefore also links well to the magazine advertisement which also uses this image in order to make the audience focus. The same font style has also been used to link the two together, showing that they are for the same album and artist. (Pictured below)
This is advertisement for the album which uses the same image that appears on the album cover; this allows an image of the actual CD to not have to appear upon the advertisement. This image uses sepia tones and shows the artist on his own, emphasising that he is a solo artist. The advertisement uses a relatively simple layout with limited information so that most of the focus is on the image, this is so it can also be recognised when people see it within a shop. The advert differs from the CD cover by adding in the release date of the album as well as showing a song that the album includes. The advertisement also has small print at the bottom of the page in order to show the website and myspace for the artist. Therefore the advertisement has been created by the use of adding simple information and an extended image of the CD cover.
This advert has a different appearance to the one used by James Morrison and has a different image to the one that appears on the album cover, the same additional information about the album appears on the advertisement. The image used is also animated figures, not of the actual artists, just the metaphorical image for the band itself. This therefore shows a different technique, as animated figures show the artists in a different unrealistic way. The artist name is the largest text on the advert which is to emphasise which band it is and make the audience aware of what the advert is for as once the name of the artist is noticed, the audience will look for information if they are interested in them. However, this image is also similar to that of the James Morrison advert in that they do not have an image of their album cover, although having the same characters within the advert and the album cover will connect the two together.
